Ferd’nand caper

I don’t get this episode of “Ferd’nand.” Maybe I’m jumping into the middle of a serial placing Ferd’nand in a world of corporate espionage. Why is he stalking that woman in the red coat? Why is she wearing dark glasses and sneaking a smoke? And is Ferd supposed to catch her in the act so he can have her fired from her job where smoking is prohibitted inside or outside of the building? So many questions are posed by this silent classic. I found this on comics.com. Sorry it’s so small.
