Letter from the editor

“You know, when I’m a mom I’m going to let my children buy whatever they want,” my 6-year-old announced as we left a store without the toy she desperately needed.
Sometimes, when life gets a little crazy, I need to remind myself that I have a lot to be thankful for. It’s easy to lose sight of the simple things when homework, soccer practice, meetings and work start closing in.
I am thankful, first and foremost, for my family and friends. I am thankful for the food in my pantry, the clean clothes in my closet and the heat that blows through the furnace vents. There’s the roof over my head, the car in my garage and my job. What about my health and sense of humor? I’m thankful for those too. The more I think about it, the more I am thankful for.
Even though she doesn’t have that latest toy, my daughter says, “I love you mom,” as she’s tucked into a warm bed after a healthy meal and a hot shower.
It’s the simple things that make life great. What are you thankful for?
Happy Thanksgiving!
