COLUMBUS – More than 6,000 impaired driving (OVI) crashes have occurred on Ohio roads in the last three years during the holiday period that spans from the day before Thanksgiving to January 2.During that period, from 2005 – 2007, the top five Ohio counties with the highest number of holiday season OVI crashes were Cuyahoga (534), Franklin (523), Hamilton (394), Summit (316) and Montgomery (265) counties according to new statistics released today by the Ohio State Highway Patrol. 

According to the Holiday Season & Impaired Driving statistical recap from the Patrol’s Statistical Analysis Unit, a total of 6,077 OVI crashes occurred during the combined 2005 – 2007 holiday seasons, including 104 fatal crashes and 2,430 injury crashes.
