Ohio EPA has proposed rules regarding how state and local solid waste disposal fees would be collected and submitted. A public hearing to accept comments on the proposed changes is set for Wednesday, July 9, 2008.
The hearing will begin at 10:00 am at Ohio EPA, Lazarus Government Center, 6th Floor, Conference Room A, 50 West Town Street, Suite 700, Columbus.

State Fire Marshal Michael P. Bell this year is encouraging Ohioans to attend public fireworks displays hosted by local municipalities and licensed exhibitors in order to reduce the risk of fire and injury this July 4th.
“The best way for Ohioans to prevent fireworks injuries is to attend a licensed, professional fireworks exhibition,” said Marshal Bell. “Keep in mind that even trick and novelty fireworks, like sparklers, are inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury.”

Ohio’s unemployment rate was 6.3 percent in May, up from 5.6 percent in April, according to data released this morning by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. Ohio’s nonfarm wage and salary employment increased 9,200 over the month, from 5,408,700 in April, to 5,417,900 in May.
“The sharp rise in the unemployment rate from April is largely due to the high volume of workers who began or resumed job searches in May,” ODJFS Director Helen Jones-Kelley said. “While employment also increased, the supply of job seekers outpaced current …

I was sitting in the drive-through at the local Tim Horton’s this morning when a guy in a big pick-up truck pulled in from another direction. The road rager in me would have made him wait his turn, but I opted to sit back and wave him in, giving him my spot in line. When I arrived at the pickup window, the server said he had paid for my coffee and said “thanks.”
